The bed is your cosy nest in which you regain your strength. But to sleep well, it must be chosen with care.
A bed made for you
The average person spends 8 hours a day in bed. So you shouldn't select your bed at random. Bedding and structure are both important. The former to create that little cocoon. The second to add style to your bedroom.
First and foremost, you'll need to decide who's going to use the bed. A child, a couple, a single person? Adult beds come in a variety of models. For those with a small bedroom and lots of things to store, a box or drawer bed is ideal, with storage space under the bed. Others can opt for a classic bed. But then again, it's not all that simple. You'll need to select the right box spring and mattress for a good night's sleep.
To make this choice, it's essential to analyze your sleeping habits. Are you corpulent? Choose a firm mattress to support you. Do you have a bad back? Choose a semi-firm or firm model.
Several technologies are used to create a mattress. If you sweat a lot or get hot easily, a latex mattress is an excellent idea. It provides excellent ventilation. If you share your bed with someone who moves around a lot, opt for a spring mattress. Classic foam mattresses are generally not recommended for daily sleep. They sag fairly quickly and don't provide very good support, except in the case of memory foam mattresses.
If you sleep on your stomach, memory foam mattresses are preferable. Latex models are recommended for side sleepers. Latex or springs are ideal for back sleepers.
The bed base: an important element
The box spring also deserves your attention. It supports the mattress and also plays a role in your sleep. Slatted bases offer excellent ventilation. They are ideal for foam or latex mattresses. Spring bases are used only with spring mattresses. They provide optimum support.
The box spring is covered with fabric. It can have exposed slats, which provide good ventilation, or covered slats, which provide less effective ventilation, so you need to air your room regularly. You can also choose a relaxation bed base whose back or legs can be raised. These are ideal for providing targeted support to certain parts of the body.
The bed frame, an essential
Typically, you can simply place feet under the box spring to create a simple bed. But if you're looking for a more aesthetically pleasing bed, you can also opt for a bed frame. The frame will hold the box spring and mattress together, providing a better sleeping surface for people who move around a lot. No risk of the mattress slipping to one side or the other. To determine the dimensions of the frame, measure your mattress and box spring. Nothing could be simpler. You'll find bed frames in wood (cherry or oak) or metal (iron or copper), which are less expensive. Wood adds a warm, rustic touch. It can be left untouched or painted (black, white?). Models with headboards are ideal for adding style. You can choose between a very classic item or a totally original one. It's up to you to decide which will best complement the design of your room. A fabric headboard brings a more contemporary style than a wooden frame. Especially if it's black or dark gray.
