They are ideal for sensitive people prone to many allergies.

A variety of materials

When it comes to the material you want your mattress protector to be made from, it's above all a matter of taste and preference. There are many different materials to choose from, each with its own advantages.

If you're a fan of distinctive materials, look out for mattress pads or protectors made from cotton, bamboo or wool. Cotton is an extremely comfortable fabric for a soft night's sleep, while wool provides warmth. Bamboo is a highly absorbent material (up to 5 times more absorbent than cotton), with hypoallergenic and antibacterial properties.

More than just a fabric, covers and undersheets come in waterproof versions to stop any stains before they damage the mattress. Designed as barriers against dust mites, some covers are specially recommended for allergy sufferers. The choice of cover or undersheet is a key factor in combating allergies. Avoid rugs and carpets, heavy curtains and overheated rooms to slow the development of dust mites. A mattress cover is easier to clean than the mattress itself.
