111Kitchen table
For breakfast or a meal on the run, the kitchen table brings the whole family together every day. In an open-plan kitchen, a high bar table optimizes space. For a rustic kitchen, prefer a rectangular wooden table with a bench. A round table with extension leaves can seat up to 8 people. Remember to protect it with an oilcloth..,The kitchen table is the element that brings everyone together on a daily basis. Whether with family or friends, for Sunday brunch or a raclette evening, for children's homework or DIY, it's the focal point of the home.
What size table do I need?
For large families or dinners with friends, consider extendable dining tables. They are very practical, allowing you to reduce or extend the size of your table to suit your needs. If you're a fan of square tables, but don't want to skimp on space, a table accommodating up to 8 guests will be ideal.
On the other hand, for smaller spaces, don't panic: choose a dining table with flaps, which will take up minimal space when folded. Good to know, however: a square or rectangular table is more suitable for a smaller space than a round one. It saves space, and costs less!
Whatever your use, because a table isn't just for sharing a meal, there's bound to be what you're looking for!
A table, yes, but with style
If your kitchen or dining room is more rustic in style, consider tables with oak, solid oak, walnut or solid ash tops. You could also opt for a longer wooden table, combined with two benches for a more country feel.
For vintage enthusiasts, you'll easily find a table with a seventies feel, why not with a white lacquered or marquetry veneered top and tapered legs. More of an industrial style? Consider a metal finish, both on the touch and throughout, and why not in black? And for American kitchens, the bistro-style high table will easily find its place.
However, if you don't have a worktop, or if you like to cook on your kitchen table, wood is more suitable for this purpose. It's a strong, durable material.
To create harmony in your room, avoid combining an oak table with pine chairs.
Which table shape for my kitchen?
In a square kitchen, a round table with a slim footprint, why not lacquered for a sixties spirit, will be just the thing. If your kitchen is rather long, opt for a table that follows the lines of the room by choosing a rectangular table, but with a slim enough top so as not to find yourself wedged between the chairs and the wall. A table of standard dimensions may also be suitable, provided you sacrifice one side by placing it against the wall. If necessary, it can be pulled out to provide two additional seats.
A generously sized table is perfect for a spacious kitchen. With its sober chairs, it will be the centerpiece of the kitchen if you choose a material with character, such as solid wood or brushed metal.
